Lucknow, November 9 (IANS) | Keeping in view the sentiments of the people, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has declared a public holiday on the occasion of ‘Chhath’ (November 10) and ‘Karthik Purnima’ (November 19).The Chief Minister said that a large number of devotees visit the fairs of Kartik month including Chhath Mahaparv.He said, in such a situation, arrangements should be made for cleanliness, security, lighting, parking and drinking water at the ghats.
According to an official spokesperson, “The Chief Minister has directed the officials to ensure that people do not face any problem in taking permission to organize the fairs, as it is an integral part of our culture and tradition.”He gave the example of ‘Panchkosi’ and ‘Chadah Kosi Parikrama’, which will start in Ayodhya from November 14.The spokesman said that Garhmukteshwar fair in Hapur, Dev Deepawali in Varanasi and Dadri fair in Ballia would be organized on November 19. Similarly, many fairs will be organized in Etah, Bareilly, Kanpur and Rae Bareilly.
Yogi Adityanath has also asked the concerned officials to build night shelters in view of the drop in temperature.“It is expected to be very cold this year. Nodal officers should be appointed. Police, in collaboration with the local municipal bodies, should ensure that no person sleeps on footpath, square or under any idol,” he said.
