Russia Ukraine War: In the midst of the ongoing war in Ukraine, the Indian Embassy is engaged in all efforts to keep the Indians living there and to evacuate them. Indian Ambassador to Ukraine Partha Satpathy said that we are in touch with the administration here. The Government of India, the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy are fully alert in view of the situation and trying to figure out how our citizens can be evacuated from Ukraine here. The Embassy continues to assist Indian nationals, including students, in Ukraine. The Indian Embassy in Hungary is also providing all possible help on the evacuation of Indians from Ukraine. Teams of the Ministry of External Affairs are in touch with the embassies of Hungary, the Slovak Republic and Romania and are trying to evacuate Indians from Ukraine by land.

Indian students trapped in Ukraine after the war gathered outside the Indian Embassy in Kiev in fear. Since not everyone could be housed in the embassy premises, the students have been housed in a secure school premises adjacent to the embassy. The whole process took some time considering the ground situation in Kiev, but now new students are also being taken to the campus safely when they arrive. No Indian is currently trapped outside the embassy. India’s Ambassador to Ukraine Partha Satpathy said that till every Indian from Ukraine reaches back to our country, the Indian Embassy will continue to work here.

Ambassador Partha Satpathy said that our embassy in Ukraine is open and working continuously. Airspace has been closed due to the war, due to which special flights have been affected. In this situation, I appeal to all Indian citizens here in Ukraine to stay where you are. Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan said that India is making alternative arrangements for the safe return of Indian nationals stranded in this Eastern European country. Muraleedharan said the central government would ensure the safe return of 18,000 Indians, including students from the country, stranded there and asked them to comply with the instructions of the Indian Embassy in Kiev. An Air India plane, which had left for Kiev on Thursday morning to bring back Indians stranded in Ukraine, returned later in the day as the airspace there was closed due to Russian attacks.
