Pune. Cyrus Poonawala, Chairman and Managing Director of Pune’s famous Serum Institute, which provides Covid or Corona vaccine to the countrymen, is reported to have suffered a mild heart attack. It is being told that Cyrus Poonawala suffered a heart attack on Friday. He was admitted to Ruby Hall Clinic. Where angioplasty was done. Ruby Hall Clinic consultant Ali Daruwala has issued a statement saying that Cyrus Poonawala suffered a mild heart attack on November 16. He was admitted to Ruby Hall Clinic in the early hours of 17 November. Where Dr. Parvez Grant, Dr. CN Makhale and Dr. Abhijeet Khardekar performed his angioplasty. Ali Daruwala has told that Cyrus Poonawala is fine now. However, till now his son Aadar Poonawala has not officially told anything about his father.
Another official of Ruby Hall Clinic has said that Cyrus Poonawala will be discharged soon. In angioplasty, a wire is passed through an artery in the wrist or leg to the clogged artery of the heart. Then the blocked artery is dilated by inserting a stent through this wire. Due to this, blood starts reaching the heart easily again. Heart attack occurs due to blockage in the arteries of the heart. Due to blockage of arteries up to 90 percent, the risk of heart attack increases significantly. Excessive oily foods like meat, cheese, full cream milk etc. cause blockage in the arteries. Eating oily food before blockage of arteries increases cholesterol level. To open the blockage in the heart artery, a stent has to be inserted through angioplasty. If there is blockage in several arteries, bypass surgery has to be done.
Cyrus Poonawalla established Serum Institute in Pune in the year 1966. All types of vaccines are made in this institute. The Covid i.e. Corona vaccine named Covishield was also prepared by the Serum Institute. Covishield vaccine was discovered jointly by Oxford University and AstraZeneca. Most of the people in India were given Covishield vaccine. With the formation of Serum Institute, people in India get all the vaccines at affordable prices. We do not need to import most of the vaccines from abroad. In this way, Cyrus Poonawala and his son Aadar have done great work for the welfare of India and its people.
