The country’s leading automaker Tata Motors is in discussion about the CNG variants of its popular cars in India. For some time now, we have been continuously bringing you the news of the CNG version of the Punch, while today we have an update on the CNG variants of the Tiago and Tigor.
According to the information received, Tata can launch the CNG variant of both these vehicles in January 2022. For which select dealerships have started taking bookings for token amounts ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000.
Power will be less on CNG variant
The Tiago and Tigor CNG will continue with their existing 1.2-litre petrol engines. However, the power and torque figures will be reduced by 15 to 20 percent on the CNG variant. Which is normal for CNG variants. For example, while the petrol engine of Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is capable of giving power of 83PS, while its CNG variant gives power of 69PS.

By how much will the price increase on the CNG variant
At present, there is a doubt about which variants of these two cars will get the option of CNG, but it is expected that the mid-spec and second-to-top variants can be given CNG option. The price of which will increase from Rs 60,000 to Rs 80,000 on petrol variants.
Existing variant price
The Tata Tiago is currently priced at Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7.07 lakh, while the subcompact sedan Tigor is priced from Rs 5.67 lakh to Rs 7.84 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The new Celerio may also get a CNG update soon as rivals of the Tiago including the WagonR and Santro in the hatchback segment in India, while the Tigor will take on the Hyundai Aura CNG.
