The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested three more accused including Tabrez Khan, the main conspirator of the violence. According to sources, Tabrez’s name had also surfaced in the Delhi riots.

After the violence, he was seen around all the top officials including the DCP. He was often seen standing or sitting next to Usha Rangnani, the DCP of the area, from the stage to the road. Not only this, pretending to maintain peace, he had also organized a tricolor yatra in the area and had also obtained permission for this from the police by writing a letter.

It is being told that earlier Tabrez was a member of Asaduddin Owaisi’s party AIMIM, but later he left AIMIM and joined Congress. At present, it was preparing for the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections.
After the stone pelting, he was constantly talking about maintaining peace in the area by roaming around with the police. According to police sources, Tabrez had a very active role in the stone pelting of Jahangirpuri.
In a post-violence video, it can be seen that when DCP Usha Rangrani was holding a press conference in Jahangirpuri, she was sitting next to him, requesting the removal of police force from the area through a mike. At the same time, another video outside the Jahangirpuri police station, when the families of the arrested accused had gathered outside the police station and the people of both the communities started shouting slogans face to face outside the police station, even then Tabrez was seen calling the family members of one community to the police station. was stirring outside.
Not only this, Tabrez’s name also appeared in the Delhi riots. He had also taken buses from Azad Chowk to Shaheen Bagh and the same crowd had gathered in Jaffrabad. However, the police had made it a witness to strengthen the case.
36 people arrested so far including three minors
Significantly, in connection with the communal violence in Jahangirpuri area, the police have arrested three more accused. With this, the police have so far arrested 36 people including three minors.
While Zaheer Khan alias Jalil (48) and Anabul alias Sheikh (32) were arrested from Jahangirpuri on Friday, the third accused Tabrez (40) was also arrested from the same area on Saturday, police officials said. Both Zaheer Khan and Anabul were absconding since the day of the clash. Police said they were identified through CCTV footage and on the basis of statements of witnesses, who alleged that both were active participants in the violence.
A senior police officer said that both the accused had switched off their mobile phones and changed their whereabouts several times. When he returned to his home here, the police came to know that he was in Jahangirpuri. According to the official, Jaleel was seen waving a pistol in the CCTV footage and whether he fired or not will be investigated. The official said that Anabul was an active participant in the clashes. While police claimed that Tabrez was also actively involved in the violence, fresh arrests have been made on the basis of technical evidence and statements of witnesses.
Violence 9 people including 8 policemen were injured
Eight police personnel and a local were injured in violent clashes between two communities during the Hanuman Jayanti procession at Jahangirpuri in the capital on April 16. According to the police, stone pelting and arson took place during the clashes and some vehicles were also torched.
Days after the violence, Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana wrote to the Enforcement Directorate to probe the money laundering charges against the main accused in the case. The police have imposed strict National Security Act (RASUKA) against the five accused in the case.
