The Bharatiya Janata Party is busy preparing to form the government in Manipur. Meanwhile, the caretaker Chief Minister of the state N Biren Singh has also reached the capital Delhi. During this, he will meet many big names including Union Home Minister Amit Shah. It is reported that BJP MLA Thongam Vishwajit Singh has also reached Delhi by a separate flight. Speculation is rife that his name is also included in the race for the post of CM of Manipur.
Biren Singh Shah, who reached Delhi, will meet BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda and party general secretary BL Santosh. In the upcoming meetings, the formation of a new cabinet in the state and finalizing the name of the CM will be discussed. Apart from this, Vishwajit Singh can also meet big leaders of the party in Delhi. He is a two-time MLA and has also been a cabinet minister in the previous government.
Factionalism in Manipur!
The results of the assembly elections were declared on March 10. After this, Biren Singh, Vishwajit Singh and BJP state president A Sharda Devi had moved to Delhi on 15 March amid reports of factionalism in the party. After this, the three leaders returned to Imphal on 17 March.
In Manipur, which has 60 assembly seats, the BJP has won 32 seats. Biren Singh won from Hingang seat, while Vishwajit Singh won Thongju seat. In the year 2017 too, the BJP had succeeded in forming the government even after winning just 21 seats. During that time the Congress along with two local parties (National People’s Party, Naga People’s Front) won 28 seats.
