New Delhi. A lot of runs are being scored in IPL 2024. Only 30 matches have been played in the league, out of which a score greater than 200 has been made 12 times. Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 287 runs on Monday. The interesting thing is that all these IPL matches are being held on the same grounds on which the Women’s Premier League (WPL) was played just a few days ago. 200 runs were not scored even once in WPL. This may raise a question in the minds of cricket lovers that if the bat and ball are the same then why the 200 mark was not crossed even once in the WPL. If this question has come in your mind too, then know that there is a difference not only in the style of fours and sixes in women’s and men’s cricket, but there is also a difference in the size of the ball and the length of the boundary. Let us know 5 such differences between women’s cricket and men’s cricket (Womens Cricket vs Mens Cricket).
difference in ball weight
The weight of the ball used in women’s cricket should be between 140 to 151 grams. In men’s cricket the weight of the ball is between 156 to 163 grams. Similarly, the circumference of the ball used in women’s cricket ranges from 21.0 cm to 22.5 cm. The circumference of a men’s cricket ball should be between 22.4 to 22.9 cm.

In women’s test matches, the follow-on rule applies when the difference is 150 runs. For this to happen in men’s test cricket, there should be a lead of at least 200 runs.
bowling timings vary
An average of 17 overs should be bowled in an hour in a women’s Test match, which is 2 overs more than a men’s Test match. An average of 3.6 minutes has been set to bowl one over in a women’s test match. The average time in men’s matches is 4 minutes.
