Karnataka Minister Shivraj Tangadagi said that youths and students raising slogans of ‘Modi-Modi’ should be slapped. The minister also targeted the BJP-led central government, accusing it of not fulfilling its promise of providing two crore jobs every year. The Kannada and Culture Minister also said that the BJP should be ashamed of seeking votes in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as it has failed on the development front as well.
“Promised to provide two crore jobs”
“They should be ashamed,” Tangadagi said. They could not do even a single development work, then from what mouth are they asking for votes. He had promised to provide two crore jobs. Did he give job to anyone? When asked about jobs, they say – sell pakodas, they should feel ashamed.” Addressing a meeting of Congress workers at Karatagi in Koppal district, he said, if any student or youth still says ‘Modi-Modi’ then they should be slapped.
BJP leader’s counterattack on minister’s comment
Senior BJP leader and former national general secretary of the party CT Ravi targeted the Congress over the minister’s comments. He posted on BJP has petitioned the Election Commission demanding strict action against the minister.
BJP said violation of model code of conduct
Calling it a clear violation of the model code of conduct, the BJP said he should be barred from the election process and from campaigning in favor of the Congress. Accusing the minister of instigating Congress workers against BJP voters and young voters, the opposition party (BJP) in the state said, “This may create fear among young voters and they may stay away from voting.” (Input- PTI)
