But during the medieval period, her condition declined and she became a victim of many evils. Their condition improved after independence. Mary Kom

Famous Indian female boxer Mary Kom was born on 1 March 1983 in Churachandpur, Manipur. After failing in the high school examination, he left school and took the examination from the National Open School. Once when she saw some girls boxing with boys, she wondered why she could not do boxing and then she started learning boxing. Since winning for the first time in 2001, he has won many medals and awards. His name needs no introduction today. A film has also been made on his biography. In which Priyanka Chopra has played the role of Mary Kom.

Kiran Kher

No one is unfamiliar with the name of Kirron Kher, wife of famous character actor Anupam Kher. He was born on 14 June 1955 in Punjab. He completed his studies from Chandigarh and graduated from Indian Theater of Punjab. Her first marriage was to industrialist Gautam Beri. After divorce from him, she married Anupam Kher. Apart from being an actress, she is associated with many social organizations. His ‘Laadli’ campaign was against foeticide. He had launched a campaign to make people aware about cancer. She stood shoulder to shoulder with Anna Hazare in his anti-corruption movement. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, he won as a BJP candidate by defeating his opponents in Chandigarh.

Kiran Bedi

Kiran Bedi, born on 9 June 1949 in Amritsar, was India’s first woman IPS. Became an officer. He worked in Delhi, Goa, Chandigarh and Mizoram. Due to their efforts, crimes against women decreased. As a traffic police officer, he handled the traffic arrangements during the Asian Games. Launched a campaign called ‘Navjyoti India Foundation’ against drugs. But many controversies were associated with his name and work, so he took voluntary retirement in 2007. She was with Anna Hazare in his movement. He started a TV show named ‘Aap Ki Kachhari’. Moderated the show. She became a member of BJP in 2015. Today she is the Governor of Puducherry.

Irom Sharmila

Irom Chanu Sharmila, born on 14 March 1972, is a renowned human rights activist from Manipur. He went on a hunger strike in protest against the killing of 10 innocent people by Assam Rifles jawans in Malom. She remained on hunger strike for 16 years from 4 November 2000 to 9 August 2016. The government arrested him and started feeding him through a nasal tube. Seeing the indifference of the people towards his struggle, he ended his fast on 9 August 1916. And announced his entry into politics.

Arunima Sinha

Nationally renowned football player Arunima was born in 1988. On 12 April 2011, while traveling to Dehradun, some criminals threw him from the train in an attempt to snatch the chain, due to which he lost one of his legs. But showing extraordinary courage, Arunima created a record by reaching the highest peak of Mount Everest without getting disappointed in life. She became the first disabled woman to kiss the peak of Mount Everest.

Neerja Bhanot

Neerja was born on 7 September 1963 to Harish Bhanot and Rama Bhanot in Chandigarh. His primary education was in Chandigarh and he received further education in Mumbai. After marriage, their relationship broke up after two months due to dowry. After this she started working as an air hostess. 17 hours after the Karachi-bound flight was hijacked, she managed to open the emergency door to save the passengers. She fell victim to terrorists’ bullets while taking out her three children. For this bravery of Neerja, she was awarded Ashok Chakra. When she attained martyrdom, she was only 23 years old. A film was also made on her in which Sonam Kapoor played Neerja.
