Chandigarh, June 24 (IANS). Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini, addressing the people from the holy land of Sri Muktsar Sahib in Punjab on Wednesday, called upon them to regain their lost glory and move towards making the state number one in the country through development, good governance and politics driven by national interest.
Paying homage to the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev, all the Guru Sahibans and Sahibzadas, the Chief Minister said the holy land of Sri Muktsar Sahib “stands witness to the unmatched sacrifices of Chali Mukte, Bhai Maha Singh-ji and Mai Bhago-ji”.
He said that the culture, language and emotional connect of Punjab and Haryana are similar.
Saini said that he has come before the people of Punjab not as the Chief Minister of the neighboring state, but as a younger brother and well-wisher.
He said that the people of Punjab first gave a chance to Congress and later to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), but both of them did not live up to the expectations of the people.
He accused Congress of corruption, nepotism and hindering development, while accused AAP of turning Punjab into a political laboratory and not fulfilling its promises.
The Chief Minister said that AAP had made big promises in Punjab, but today every section of the society is asking where is the promised change. He said that the promise of giving Rs 1,100 every month to women has not been fulfilled even after 4 years.
On the contrary, he said the Haryana government has started giving Rs 2,100 every month to women from poor families under the Deendayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana and crores of rupees have been transferred directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
He questioned the AAP government on issues of drug abuse, crime, illegal mining, financial mismanagement and deteriorating law and order. He said that the youth of Punjab are struggling to get jobs and thousands of youth are being forced to adopt illegal routes to go abroad.
Saini stressed that the most serious crisis facing Punjab is the growing menace of drugs, which has ruined many families and jeopardized the future of the youth.
