1. Mother Teresa
Mother Teresa was born on 26 August 1910 in Spoje city of Yugoslavia. Mother Teresa was a Catholic nun. Who took Indian citizenship in 1948. He established ‘Missionaries of Charity’ to take care of the poor, orphans and sick. Which spread to 123 countries during his lifetime. He was awarded the ‘Nobel’ Peace Prize in 1979 and the highest civilian honor ‘Bharat Ratna’ in 1980. He died on 15 September 1997. After his death, Pope John Paul II gave him the title of saint.
2. Indira Gandhi
The name of Indira Gandhi, daughter of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, needs no introduction. She was the first woman Prime Minister of India. Who was the Prime Minister of India from January 1966 to March 1977. Then she became Prime Minister from January 1980 to 1984. On 31 October 1984, his guards named Beant Singh and Satwant Singh shot him.
3. Kalpana Chawla
Kalpana Chawla was born on 17 March 1962 in Karnal, Haryana. Her father wanted her to become a teacher or a doctor but Kalpana Chawla dreamed of traveling to space since childhood. She joined NASA’s astronaut list in March 1995 and was the second Indian to travel to space on Space Shuttle Columbia on 19 November 1997.
4. Amrita Shergill
Famous Indian painter Amrita Shergil was born in 1915 in Budapest, Hungary. His father was of Indian and mother of Hungarian origin. He started painting at the early age of eight. At the age of 22, she technically became a full-fledged painter. It was influenced by Ajanta art along with Mughal and Pahari art. Indian art is reflected in his paintings. He died due to serious illness in 1941 at the age of just 28.
5. Lakshmi Sehgal
Born in 1914 in a traditional Tamil family, Lakshmi Sehgal went to Singapore after studying medicine from Madras Medical College. Where she joined Subhash Chandra Bose’s Azad Hind Sena. She was the commander of ‘Rani Lakshmi Regiment’ of Azad Hind Army.
6.Pandit Ramabai
Ramabai was born on 23 April 1858 to Sanskrit scholar Anant Dogre. Apart from being a poet, she was a supporter of the upliftment of Indian women. Despite being a Brahmin, he married someone from a different caste. She founded Arya Mahila Sabha. She was a social reformer who later converted to Christianity.
7.Aruna Asaf Ali
He was born on 16 July 1909 in Kalka, Punjab. His name was Aruna Ganguly. After completing her education from Lucknow and Nainital, she started studying in Kolkata. She went underground due to her participation in the Quit India Movement in 1942. He challenged the British government by organizing a meeting to protest against the arrest of Gandhiji. She came out of underground life in 1946. After independence, she kept joining from one party to another. In 1958 she became the first mayor of Delhi Municipal Corporation.
8. Begum Akhtar
Akhtari Bai Faizabadi, born on 7 October 1914, was a famous Thumri and Dadra singer of her time. Who later became famous by the name of Begum Akhtari. She was also called Mallika-e-Ghazal. He was awarded ‘Padma Shri’ and posthumously ‘Padma Bhushan’ by the Government of India.
