Chanakya says that if a man’s wife is of evil nature—that is, she quarrels often, is jealous of others and disrespects her husband or family—then such a home can never be happy. In such a situation, the person’s mind is always full of tension and dissatisfaction. No matter how much success one achieves in the outside world, if peace is lost at home, then the joy of life also ends.

A false or cunning friend is the most dangerous. He smiles in front of you, but attacks you behind your back. Trusting such a friend is suicidal. According to Chanakya, a friend who is with you at the time of selfishness, but disappears when needed, is “like an enemy”. Such a person destroys both your mind and self-confidence.
