Rail is the most widely used means of transport in India. Many times in the train, we do not get tickets in the compartment of our choice. In such a situation, we have to compromise. But now Indian Railways has brought a new plan. In this, passengers will get the option of auto upgradation. In this service, passengers will be able to upgrade their ticket category. That is, if the passenger has taken a sleeper class ticket, then that ticket can be upgraded to third AC without any additional fee. It is available both online and offline.
Auto upgrade facility: If the seats in Third AC, Second AC and AC First Coaches are vacant in auto upgrade, then you can upgrade it as per your convenience. Passengers can get this facility free and with fee. When this facility is free: If you are already traveling and want to upgrade your ticket, then you have to pay a fee. But if you choose the option of auto upgrade while booking tickets, then you can upgrade the ticket for free. The seat will be upgraded only when the seat is vacant in the train.
Auto upgradation facility is available since 2006: Indian Railways launched Auto Upgradation Scheme in 2006. Passengers are given an auto upgrade option at the top of the reservation form. It is available on the IRCTC app and online portal. After the chart is formed, the railway consider upgrading the ticket.
