A major accident took place late Friday night in Hassan, Karnataka. Ganesh statue entered an uncontrolled container procession during immersion. Container was going from Hassan to Holenarsipur. 9 people died in the accident. 22 people were injured. Hassan Deputy Commissioner KS Lata Kumari said that the injured are being treated at HIMS Hospital. One is in critical condition. Apart from this, 7 people are undergoing treatment and their condition is said to be normal. It is being told that late Friday night, a container entered the procession to avoid colliding with a container bike in Hosulli. The containers trampled many people involved in the procession. Container driver has also been injured in the accident. Eyewitnesses said that the procession was moving forward and a large number of devotees were involved in it. Students of Engineering College were also present in the procession. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has expressed grief over the death of the people.
