Chandigarh. Making an important announcement today, State President of Bharatiya Janata Party, Chandigarh, Jitendra Pal Malhotra said that with the continuous efforts of the party, the guidance of the Central Government and the active cooperation of the Chandigarh Administration, a long pending project to promote AYUSH education has now taken shape. He informed that 4.8 acres of land has been allotted by the Chandigarh Administration in Sector-48 for the establishment of a Government AYUSH Institute (Centre of Excellence). This institute will be established specifically with the aim of promoting the development, education, research and coordination of Ayurveda and Homeopathy medical systems with modern health services. Malhotra said that this project is part of the vision of the country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under which the aim is to strengthen the traditional medical systems and give them global recognition. The efforts being made by the Ministry of AYUSH to expand Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy across the country, this institute will prove to be a strong step in that direction.
He further said that this AYUSH institute, which will be set up by the UT administration, will provide an opportunity to the students to get AYUSH medical education at minimal government fees. This initiative will prove to be extremely beneficial especially for the economically weaker students.
Apart from this, high level education, state-of-the-art research facilities, training centres, OPD services and public awareness programs will also be conducted in this institute.
This institute will establish Chandigarh as a major center of Ayurveda and Homeopathy education and research.
Soon the foundation stone of this project is likely to be laid by the Union Health Minister or any senior minister of the Central Government.
Malhotra expressed confidence that this institute will provide new educational opportunities for the youth, generate employment and further strengthen Chandigarh’s identity in the health sector.
