New Delhi, 9 September (). The Delhi Police is leaving no stone unturned to clamp down on corrupt police officers. In this sequence, ASI Rakesh Kumar has been arrested for taking bribe.
Continuing the campaign against corrupt police officers in Delhi Police, the Vigilance Unit of Barakhamba Road, Delhi Police arrested ASI Rakesh Kumar posted at Hauz Qazi police station.
This action has been arrested for taking a bribe of Rs 15,000 from the complainant resident market Sita Ram, Hauz Qazi. The complainant has alleged that Divisional Officer of his area ASI Rakesh is seeking a bribe in lieu of not implicating him in a false case.
The complainant lodged a written complaint at the Vigilance Branch on Tuesday and told that ASI Rakesh Kumar called him a police station Hauz Qazi to bribe him at 12:30 pm.
After this the Vigilance team laid a trap. At around 12:30 pm, the complainant entered the Hauz Qazi police station with 15 thousand rupees of bribe. After some time, both the complainant and accused ASI Rakesh Kumar came out of the police station.
The complainant indicated to the Vigilance team that the police officer had taken the bribe amount. After this, the members of the Vigilance team ran to apprehend the accused.
However, ASI Rakesh Kumar got a glimpse of the raid and he bounced the bribe notes in the air. There was a crowd in the area. People took some notes. The Vigilance team somehow handled the situation.
Before this, people kept walking with some notes. An amount of 10 thousand was recovered from the spot, while 5 thousand public took away and taken, that amount could not be recovered.
The DCP of Vigilance said that the FIR has been registered and accused ASI Rakesh Kumar has been arrested, who will be produced in the Rouse Avenue Court on 10 September.
He said that there is an appeal to all citizens to come forward to inform the policemen about the bribe. For this, a complaint can be filed on the helpline number 1064 of Vigilance.
