New Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta interacted with the media about the flood situation of the Yamuna river and the preparations for the upcoming festivals. He said that the Delhi government has done a better job in dealing with floods and the damage will be compensated to the affected farmers. Also, all necessary facilities will be provided to the people displaced by floods for rehabilitation in homes.
The Chief Minister also informed about the preparations for the upcoming festivals like Durga Puja, Deepawali and Chhath. He said that like the Kandar Yatra, these events will be held in a grand and systematic manner. For this, a single window system will be implemented, so that Ramlila and Durga Puja committees do not have to face any trouble. Instructions have been issued to the officials in this regard.
Rekha Gupta expressed deep condolences on the tragic accident on the Munak Canal in Shalimar Bagh. He met the victim families and announced financial assistance to each affected family. Also, instructions have been given to completely barricade the edges of the Munak Canal to prevent such incidents in the future.
He said, “We have met their families who fell in the city. We have said to give assistance to those families.” Rekha Gupta also informed that the responsibility of maintaining the Munak Canal was earlier with the Haryana government, but this time the Delhi government has taken up maintenance work.
The Chief Minister assured the traders of GST refund. Along with this, Rekha Gupta said that the government is engaged in serving the people of Delhi with honesty. He insisted that all necessary steps will be taken to bring Delhi back to normal condition.
CM Rekha Gupta also said that Delhi government officials have done a very good job in the event of floods. Officers who are doing better work need to encourage. The Delhi government will organize the program once a year, in which the best officer of every category working for the public will be honored.
Earlier, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the most poor people have been affected by the floods. He appealed to the Delhi government to implement relief measures immediately.
Leader of Opposition of Delhi Legislative Assembly and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Atishi demanded immediate relief for the flood affected people. He appealed to the Chief Minister to give financial assistance of Rs 18,000 to an adult member of each affected family, compensation for property loss, and compensation to farmers at the rate of Rs 20,000 per acre.
