Diamond Harbor. On behalf of the Election Commission, UP IPS officer Ajay Pal Sharma has been appointed as the new police observer of South 24 Parganas district. A video of TMC candidate Jahangir went viral on social media. TMC candidate Jahangir has spoken to news agency on this matter. TMC candidate from Falta assembly seat, Jahangir Khan, while talking to news agency , said that yesterday around 3 pm, he came here and tried to threaten in the party office. Then he went to my house and tried to threaten my family. Is this the duty of a police observer? If they have something to say, they should tell it to the police officers. Jahangir said that there is no rule of the Election Commission which says that a police observer can go to people’s homes and threaten them. These people are doing illegal work to help BJP. They are trying to threaten TMC workers and leaders, because they know they will not win, but we are not afraid.
Jahangir said that the Election Commission should work in an impartial manner, but here it is working in favor of the BJP. If the police observer needed any information, he could get it from the local SP. But instead of doing this, they are trying to exert direct pressure and make threats. No purpose will be served by this.
Let us tell you that the deployment of IPS Ajay Pal Sharma is being seen as an important initiative to maintain law and order in sensitive areas of the state before the second phase of voting. In the video, he is seen visiting the house of Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Jahangir from Falta area, reprimanding him and instructing him to follow the law. In the video, he can be heard saying that they (TMC candidates) should improve their behavior otherwise they will have to face consequences later.
