Inspector General of Police of Raipur region Amresh Mishra has confirmed the encounter, but refused to give more information. He said that security forces have encountered Naxalites in Mainpur area of Gariaband district. Large commanders of Naxalites have also been killed in this.

He said that since Thursday morning, there is intermittent encounter between security forces and Naxalites in the area. He said that further information will be given in this regard after the operation is completed.
