Durg, September 11 (IANS). Chhattisgarh Home Minister Vijay Sharma spoke to reporters at the BJP office on Thursday. During this, he gave detailed information on the big exemption made in GST and the recent anti -Naxal campaign.

Home Minister Vijay Sharma said that the central government has decided not to impose any tax on income ranging from 5 lakh to 12 lakh rupees, giving great relief to the taxpayers. He said that before the implementation of GST on 1 July 2017, there were 17 types of taxes and 13 types of cess in the country, which caused trouble to the general public and traders. State governments used to implement taxes arbitrarily.

The Home Minister said that last year the government had decided not to tax 12 lakh annual income. In GST, only two slabs have been replaced by only two slabs in GST. Tax on all useful items has been reduced to zero and tax in many products has been reduced by 10 percent. He described it as a step for the public to bring Ram Rajya.

Presenting the figures, he said that in 2017, GST taxpayers were 66.5 lakhs, which has increased to 1.51 crore in 2025. The gross GST collection in FY 2024-25 stood at Rs 22.08 lakh crore, which has doubled in just four years. This improvement will benefit the textile industry, especially in the field of exports. Lower handicraft rates will support the livelihood of artisans, preserve Indian heritage and strengthen the rural economy. Clear classification in the automobile sector will reduce disputes and will also promote exports. Along with this, renewable energy will also get special encouragement. He said that food and drink things will now become cheap, which will give direct benefit to the general public.

Vijay Sharma said on Naxalism that the soldiers have achieved great success during the search operation in Gariaband district. In this action, 10 Naxalites have been killed, including many big leaders. Expressing deep condolences on the killing of teachers, he said that whoever kills the teacher will not be included in any kind of rehabilitation policy.

On the question of police recruitment, he said that the previous government did not recruit a single policeman in 5 years, while the present government is continuously working to strengthen the police force and the recruitment process is going on regularly. During this time, the Home Minister expressed confidence that these policies and strict stance of the government will not only strengthen the economy, but will also ensure peace and development in the state.
