Jaipur . A copy of the book ‘Early History of Rajasthan’ written by Premlata Pokharna was presented to Governor Haribhau Kishanrao Bagde at Raj Bhavan. The Governor reviewed the book and appreciated it by wishing Ambedkar Jayanti and signing the copy. During the meeting, Premlata Pokharna gave detailed information about the book to the Governor. Also informing the Governor about the ancient relations of Maharashtra with Rajasthan, he said that Bagad, Bagdawat, Bagri etc. are famous in Rajasthan. Deepak Mehta, Managing Editor of Dainik Jaltedeep and Manak Patrika, while presenting Rajasthani magazine Manak, demanded to start the Department of Rajasthani Language and Culture in Rajasthan University, and also gave information about the recent movement of students in this regard. On this occasion, along with Premlata Pokharna, Anirudh Singh Rathod, Deepak Mehta, Dr. US Pokharna, Meenal Pokharna and Fateh Pokharna were also present.
About Purtak :-This book presents the early history of Rajasthan from a new perspective. In this, a detailed study of the pre-Gupta period, the Gupta period and the times after that has been done. In this, the rise, expansion of various Rajput dynasties and the impact of external invasions, especially the Huns, Persians and Shaka tribes, on India have been analysed. The book explains the events in a systematic manner on the basis of inscriptions, coins (numismatics) and literary sources. Besides, the social, political, cultural and religious conditions of that time have also been highlighted.
About the author :-
The author of this book, Prem Lata Pokharna, is a well-known numismatist and historian. While working in the Archeology and Museum Department of Rajasthan Government, he made important contributions in the field of numismatics and history. His research works have been published in many reputed journals. He wrote important books like “Coins and Coin Hoards of Rajasthan” and “Coins of North India” and “Punchmark coins of Rajasthan”, in which detailed study of ancient coins and their history has been done. His books have also been recognized as reference books at the university level, especially in the Universities of Mumbai and Delhi. He was awarded senior fellowship by the Indian Council of Historical Research and the Department of Culture. Additionally, he received the Fellowship of the Royal Numismatic Society, London in 2005 and the Maharana Kumbha Award in 2007.
