Senior Supreme Court advocate Abhishek Manu Sindhvi has recently made a big statement, in which he has questioned the functioning of the Election Commission. Sindhvi said that “Despite the three orders of the court, the Election Commission did not take appropriate steps. This is a serious challenge for democracy.” He specially attacked the Commission’s action regarding Kheda notice.

Abhishek Manu Sindhvi said that not following the orders issued by the court questions the transparency of the election process. He said, “When the Supreme Court gives its orders, it is the duty of all concerned institutions to follow it. The Election Commission should not ignore the court orders under any circumstances.”

Referring to the case of Kheda, Sindhvi said that despite the issue of notice, the commission’s response was slow and it reflects serious negligence towards the democratic process. He appealed to the Election Commission not to follow the instructions of the Supreme Court immediately and do not allow such situation to arise again.

Sindhvi also said that the issue needs to be taken seriously, as the public’s trust in the fairness of the Election Commission is directly related to the strength of democracy. He clarified that if the Commission does not take steps on time, it will not only affect the political process, but will also create doubts about justice and transparency in the general public.

Experts say that disregarding the orders of the Supreme Court, irrespective of the reason, can have a serious impact on the credibility of democratic institutions. Abhishek Manu Sindhvi’s statement has launched a fresh debate in this direction. Political analysts also believe that such allegations against the Commission directly question the basic principles of democracy.

At the same time, there is no official response to this statement from the Election Commission. It is believed that the Commission will soon clarify in this matter and will speed up the process of following the court orders.
