Tonk. Within just 12 hours, the police has exposed the murder of constable Bhagchand Saini, who was martyred on the altar of duty in Uniara subdivision of the district. This sensational incident happened when Bhagchand, posted at Kakod post of Banetha police station, was patrolling near Rupwas turn late on Saturday night. During patrolling, he saw two suspects hiding in the bushes and asked them the reason for sitting there, who were carrying illegal caped guns in the interest of hunting wildlife. On being interrupted and interrogated, the accused started quarreling with Bhagchand and fired directly at him, due to which the constable died on the spot.
Considering the seriousness of the incident, the police conducted an intensive search operation in the forests of Rupwas on the basis of CCTV footage and inputs received from informers. During the search, the police smelled a strong smell of gunpowder coming from a part of the forest, following which the team reached the bushes where the two accused were hiding. The arrested accused have been identified as Rajesh Meena and Dilraj Meena, who are drivers by profession and had gone out to hunt wildlife like peacock and rabbit on the night of the incident. Police have also recovered the gun, pellets and motorcycle used in the murder from their possession. The demise of Martyr Constable Bhagchand Saini is an irreparable loss for his family, as he was the youngest in his family and has a son of only 21 months. Bhagchand, who joined the police service in the year 2018, was married four years ago. Initially, it was suspected that the gravel mafia was involved in this murder, but a quick and scientific investigation by the police made it clear that this incident was the result of the sudden aggressive reaction of the poachers.
