Chandigarh, January 21 (IANS). To bring out new talents through sports in Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party government has planned to build 3100 playgrounds across the state.
Speaking to IANS in Chandigarh, Punjab Government Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond said that first of all I would like to thank Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, under whose able leadership the Aam Aadmi Party government is running in Punjab. One of the main objectives, goals and vision of our government is to develop playgrounds in Punjab that work efficiently at the grassroots level. Under this, 3100 model playgrounds are being built across the state. All kinds of facilities will be available in these – separate toilets for boys and girls, huge lighting arrangements, so that big tournaments can be organized even at night. Courts for games like football, badminton, volleyball etc. will be built in these grounds.
He informed that the photo of each playground will be uploaded on the MIS portal every 15 days with geo-tagging. Technical quality including construction and materials used will also be examined. The entire Punjab has been divided into three parts and each team is working in its responsible part. We have planned to complete the construction of the playground in five phases. We hope that by the month of April we will be able to dedicate many playgrounds to the public. He said that right now only grass is being planted. The remaining work is being done from our entire state budget. We are providing funds for this from the state itself.
Referring to gangsterism, he said that there is no place for gangsterism in Punjab. This is a clear message to those taking law into their own hands that the Punjab government believes in neither protection nor mercy, but in taking direct and strict action and this fight will continue until gangsterism is completely eliminated from Punjab.
