Gandhinagar, April 27 (IANS). The allegations against Aam Aadmi Party MLA Chaitra Vasava have become more serious after an altercation at a factory site in Gujarat’s Bharuch district. BJP MP Dhawal Patel alleged that the MLA assaulted members of a tribal victim’s family.
Dhawal Patel alleged that there are many serious cases registered against MLA Chaitar Vasava and he is currently out on bail with conditions.
“He has violated the conditions of the court and we will do our best to send him back to jail,” Dhawal Patel said.
This whole incident started on April 23 after a fire broke out in a chemical factory in Jhagariya GIDC industrial area of Gujarat, in which 16 workers were injured. Later, two laborers died during treatment, including Rakesh Vasava.
A day after the incident, Rakesh Vasava’s cousin Roshan Vasava had reached the factory to discuss compensation.
Meanwhile, Chaitar Vasava along with his supporters and family members of some other injured laborers reached the spot and started demanding more compensation.
In a video viral on social media, an argument is seen between the MLA and Roshan Vasava near the factory gate, which later turns into a scuffle. During this time, police officers were also present on the spot, but other people were seen intervening to stop the fight.
Roshan Vasava alleged that the MLA tried to spoil the atmosphere.
He said, “Chaitar Vasava had come here to provoke people. They did not come to help us, but to extort money. I am not associated with any political party. I came here just for my family.”
He also said that the police did not put any kind of pressure on him nor did he react to anyone’s request.
Roshan Vasava warned that if law and order deteriorates, the responsibility will be on the MLA.
Meanwhile, MLA Chaitar Vasava rejected these allegations and said that he had gone there to provide justice on the call of the victims’ families.
He said that this accident happened due to negligence in the factory, in which 16 workers were injured and two died. Many workers suffered severe burns, some with up to 80 percent burns.
The MLA alleged that the company management was not talking to the victims’ families.
He also said that the dispute occurred because of some outsiders present there. Some people who had no connection with the victim’s families were also brought there. They started arguing and then fought with me in the presence of the police.
He said the company has offered Rs 15 lakh compensation to the families of the deceased, but no assistance has been provided to the injured workers.
On the other hand, Dhawal Patel said that the government and police were already taking action in the case and talks were going on regarding compensation when the MLA intervened.
He alleged that the MLA said that mediation should be done only through him.
