Amravati, July 14 (IANS). Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday announced that the state government is launching a monthly economic report to continuously monitor economic growth and improve governance through data-based decision making.

Andhra Pradesh claims to be the first state in the country to launch monthly economic report.

Addressing Ministers, Secretaries and Heads of Departments at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister said that monthly assessment of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), revenue receipts and departmental performance will be helpful in identifying shortcomings and taking timely corrective measures. The performance and skills of government employees and officers will also be regularly appraised to improve administrative efficiency.

He urged the government departments to focus more on increasing citizen satisfaction through better service delivery. He advised senior officials to visit the ground level regularly so that the problems of the people can be directly understood and the ground reality can be ascertained.

He said the government is committed to making governance more efficient, transparent and result-oriented by leveraging technology and real-time data.

Expressing concern over the increasing number of public complaints against certain departments, the Chief Minister directed the officials to expeditiously resolve the complaints through the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS).

He directed all departments to make efforts to reduce the number of cases pending in grievance redressal to zero and to analyze whether changes in rules or amendments in laws are required for permanent resolution of recurring issues.

He said that the Revenue Department has inherited a large number of complaints due to the policies of the previous government. To resolve the long pending land related issues, the government is distributing pattadar passbooks every month in various districts.

Although many long-standing disputes have been resolved, 72 lakh pattadar passbooks are yet to be distributed.

Highlighting the importance of technology, he said the government has developed tools based on Artificial Intelligence to simplify governance and enhance revenue collection. These efforts have resulted in a 24 percent increase in revenue collection in various government departments.

He also mentioned that the state recorded a growth of about 20 per cent during the last year compared to 2017 levels and congratulated the officials for their collective efforts.

Highlighting the efforts to restore investor confidence, he said that Andhra Pradesh has once again emerged as one of India’s most preferred investment destinations after losing credibility during the previous government. The government has so far conducted 19 State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) meetings and 57 Cabinet meetings, thereby promoting large-scale investment and job creation.

He said Andhra Pradesh aims not only to become an agrarian economy but also to become a leading industrial state by effectively utilizing its abundant natural resources. Rayalaseema has immense opportunities for development of valuable resources like horticulture, minerals and rare minerals, silica and Chimakurthi granite, which will be developed through value addition.
