Abhishek Banerjee did not suffer any serious injury, it is just a gimmick: Giriraj Singh

Patna, May 31 (IANS). Union Minister Giriraj Singh took a tough stand on former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD leader Rabri Devi not vacating the government bungalow located at 10 Circular Road, Patna, saying that the law is equal for everyone.

Speaking to reporters, Union Minister Giriraj Singh said, “The law is equal for everyone. Whoever does not follow the law, legal action will be taken against him. Be it Rabri Devi or anyone else.”

Responding to the attack on TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee, he said that Abhishek Banerjee did not suffer any serious injury. Terming it a gimmick, he said that hundreds of Hindus were attacked during the TMC rule.

BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala also said on the incident of attack on Abhishek Banerjee that BJP does not support any kind of violence, sloganeering or untoward incident.

He said, “I heard the statements of all the big leaders of the BJP on Saturday. No one supported violence or obstruction, because it is not in the nature of the BJP. If something wrong has happened to anyone, the law will take its course and arrests will also be made. Whatever facts or evidence you have, hand them over. After investigation, swift action will be taken. However, it cannot be denied that there is a lot of anger among the people.”

Commenting on the attack on Abhishek Banerjee, BJP spokesperson Keya Ghosh in Kolkata said that police was present at the site of the incident. He said, “How much police do we have to deploy for the security of one MP? In fact, he has got into the habit of taking 500 policemen with him while going out. Now the government has changed and the police will do what it is supposed to do, i.e. maintain law and order in West Bengal. The police is not there to protect such MPs.”

He said that now there is no TMC government, that is why security will be given only to those who need it, security is not given without any work.
