Referring to the governments of Indira Gandhi and Manmohan Singh, Khera said, “Smt. Indira Gandhi did this in 1984. Dr. Manmohan Singh’s government did the same in 2011. It has refused to discuss the demands for education reforms – even if those demands are made by Rahul Gandhi and across the country.” Whether raised by NSUI/IYC workers or protesters at Jantar Mantar, such indifference is not just arrogance; it is insensitivity and not at all appropriate for democracy.” He said that on behalf of the Congress, he met Sonam Wangchuk and the protesters at Jantar Mantar and urged them to end their hunger strike in view of their deteriorating health. No movement is strengthened by the death of its own people; We must survive to continue the fight. Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal also visited Jantar Mantar on Thursday.
