After removal of 370, development started in Kashmir, terrorism ended: Sandeep Verma

Ranchi, July 2 (IANS). BJP spokesperson Sandeep Verma gave his reaction on many issues including the protests in Delhi demanding restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, the incident of egg throwing at Mahua Moitra in West Bengal and the ongoing SIT investigation in the Ram Temple donation case.

On the protests in Delhi by various political parties of Jammu and Kashmir demanding restoration of statehood, Sandeep Verma said that BJP has been committed to the issue of national unity and integrity since the time of Jan Sangh. Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee had said at that time that one head, one symbol and one constitution in a country is most important for national unity and integrity. Under this, the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government under the leadership of Home Minister Amit Shah worked to abolish Articles 370 and 35A.

He said that after the removal of 370, the environment of Jammu and Kashmir has changed and development has gained momentum. Since then people from all over the country are going to Kashmir. The way the environment changed, the way terrorism was spreading there, today development is taking place there. Today again if the government there makes any such effort keeping its interests in mind, the Bharatiya Janata Party strongly condemns it.

On the demand of BJP leader Babulal Marandi to register an FIR against the police in the Jamshedpur murder case, Sandeep Verma raised questions on the law and order of Jharkhand government. He said that the present state government is not showing seriousness in any way to stop crime. In the entire state you can see that the present DGP is appointed on adhoc basis. After his retirement, the government has given him extension. The rules of UPSC and Central Government have been kept in mind. Due to poor policing, criminal incidents are continuously increasing in the entire state. The limit was reached when criminals brutally murdered a person in police custody in Jamshedpur and the police stood as a mute spectator. I think there should be an FIR against them and strict action should also be taken.

On the incident of egg throwing at Mahua Moitra in West Bengal and the allegations against BJP workers, Verma said that there is a saying in Bengali, ‘Jeto Dosh Nando Ghosh’. Before blaming BJP, they should look within themselves. Our party does not support any such incident, but there is a saying ‘Jaisi Karni Vaisi Bharni’. The kind of atrocities that Trinamool Congress workers did on the people there, today when the public’s anger is rising on the Trinamool leaders, they are facing problems.

He further said that BJP never supports such incidents, but they should also see what kind of atrocities they committed there. How women were murdered openly, people were chased and killed. Today, when such incidents are happening to them themselves, they are feeling pain.”

On the meeting of the rebel faction of Trinamool Congress led by Ritabrata Banerjee with the Election Commission, Sandeep Verma said that this is completely an internal matter of Trinamool Congress. It would not be right to make any comment on this. Whatever action will be taken, it will be based on the facts presented before the Election Commission and the support of the MPs and MLAs expressed by the rebel group. We have no role in this.

Responding to the ongoing SIT investigation in the Ram Mandir donation case, the BJP spokesperson said that the state government is taking the matter seriously. The state government is both serious and capable regarding this work. Whatever appropriate action will be taken under the leadership of Yogi, the culprits will not be spared. BJP will not allow the way Congress plays with faith. BJP will give strict punishment to those who play with faith. Congress is doing politics on this issue.
