Ballari, January 17 (IANS). Karnataka BJP organized a massive protest rally on Saturday over the incident of violence in Ballari. The party demanded the immediate arrest of Congress MLA Nara Bharat Reddy, accusing him of attempting to murder BJP MLA and mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy. There was also a demand to get the matter investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The protest rally was organized in the APMC Market area of the city, in which thousands of BJP workers participated. The protesters accused the Congress-led state government of mishandling the shooting case.
State BJP President and MLA B.Y. attended the rally. Vijayendra, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly R. Ashok, former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalvadi Narayanaswami, former Deputy Chief Minister and MP Govind Karjol, former Minister B. Sriramulu, Chief Whip of the Opposition in the Legislative Council N. Ravikumar, Ballari District President Anil Kumar Moka and many MPs, MLAs, Legislative Council members, former ministers, party officials and local body representatives were present.
Addressing the gathering, Vijayendra said that rumors were being spread that the Ballari Padayatra was being canceled due to differences within the party. He said that it is also being said that he and R. There are differences of opinion among Ashoka.
He clarified, “There is no opposition from our side regarding the padyatra. I have informed everyone about the decision of the core committee meeting in this regard. The further struggle will be carried out as per the instructions of the central leadership.” Due to being unwell, Vijayendra had to end his speech midway.
Former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai said that Janardhana Reddy and his close friend, former minister B. The coming together of Sriramulu is giving sleepless nights to Congress leaders.
He said that Sriramulu’s speed and Janardhana Reddy’s strength were like storm and fire and that was the reason for the Ballari incident.
Bommai challenged and said, “Let’s see how many bullets they have. No matter how many bullets they fire, they cannot suppress our strength.”
Bommai also mentioned an incident in Hubballi, in which a Dalit woman was allegedly stripped by the police. He alleged that the police commissioner fabricated a false story by saying that the woman herself had removed her clothes.
MP Govind Karjol alleged that the shooters were not government security personnel but contract killers. He said that Congress MLA Bharat Reddy has committed a serious crime by calling a contract killer.
