Being a Muslim has become a crime in the country: Waris Pathan

देश में मुसलमान होना एक जुर्म बन गया है: वारिस पठान

Mumbai, March 18 (IANS). AIMIM leader Waris Pathan has hit back strongly at the arrest of 14 youths for throwing non-veg food into the river during an Iftar party on a boat in Varanasi. He said that now it seems that being a Muslim has become a crime in this country.

AIMIM leader in Mumbai, Waris Pathan, while talking to IANS, said that since the last 20-25 days since Ramzan has started, Muslims are being attacked repeatedly. They are being harassed, put in jails and beaten. Just see what is happening, you filed an FIR against 14 people just because they were sitting and breaking their fast (iftar). You are alleging that they threw chicken pieces in the river, do you have a video of this? Under which provision of law has the FIR been registered? There, when people drink alcohol, no action is taken. Where some people hold an Iftar party, you will be put in jail.

What language is being used against Muslims in Uttam Nagar? The administration is silently watching the show. If a Muslim says something, action is taken against him.

Waris Pathan said on the anti-conversion law bill that this anti-conversion law allows every person to practice his religion under Article 25. I have mentioned this earlier also. Without this law, if a person watches a video, hears something, or sees something on the internet and feels that he wants to change himself, then who can stop him? Every person in this country has the right to follow his religion. If he changes religion, will you put him in jail?

He said that this has been brought only to defame Muslims. There has been a lot of debate on this. Have spoken many times before.

On the issue of actress Sara Ali Khan being asked to submit an affidavit on her desire to offer prayers at Badrinath and Kedarnath, Waris Pathan said these are his personal matters. If she wants to go, she will have to give an affidavit. Why do you want to go? Are you Muslim or not? Give this information first. If you want to go then give an affidavit. Every instruction must be followed and the work must be done properly.
