Kolkata, July 19 (IANS). BJP leader Abhijit Das alias Bobby filed a complaint against Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee at Nodakhali police station in South 24 Parganas district on Sunday. He has alleged that there has been corruption in the distribution of financial compensation after Cyclone Amphan in 2020.
He alleged that around Rs 30 crore was embezzled through fake documents in the Baj Baj-Do block.
The BJP leader claimed that most of the funds given by the central government to the victims of Cyclone Amphan did not reach their intended beneficiaries.
He said applications were submitted in different names using the same number or address and funds were distributed on the basis of the same applications.
He alleged that about Rs 30 crore was embezzled in this way. He further said that all this money was deposited in fake accounts on the recommendation of Abhishek.
A complaint was filed against the then BDO of that block and several other administrative officials. He claimed that Abhishek had committed corruption worth Rs 250 crore in the distribution of financial compensation after Cyclone Amphan.
On the other hand, another complaint was filed against Abhishek Banerjee at Bishnupur police station in the same district for threatening. The complaint was filed by Bishnupur BJP leader Abhijeet Sardar, who was the BJP candidate from that constituency in the 2026 assembly elections.
The complaint was filed in response to a comment made by Abhishek on Saturday. Talking about the demolition of his party office in Amtala, the Diamond Harbor MP alleged that not only the administration but also BJP leaders were “holding rallies” for his office.
After this he said in a threatening tone that under the same law, under the same section, under which the Trinamool party office is being demolished today, when the government changes in the state, there will not be a single BJP party office left in West Bengal.
