Bharatpur, 24 September (IANS). Jawahar Singh Bedham, Minister of State for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, called it a historic relief for the common man over a huge reduction in GST rates by the central government. He said that people are celebrating with the new GST system which came into force from 22 September 2025 and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Minister Jawahar Singh Bedham said at an event held in Bharatpur, “When inflation is at its peak all over the world, people have got direct relief through GST in India. This is a big gift before Deepawali.”
The minister said, “Earlier, there were four tax slabs of 5, 12, 18 and 28 percent in GST, which were complex. Now they have been simplified and converted into only two slabs, 5 and 18 percent. It has made daily requirements like household items, cars, TVs, soaps, toothpastes, shampoo. But the 28 percent items have come in 18 percent. This will save the middle class of Rs 2.5 lakh crore annually.
These changes were announced on 3 September in the 56th GST Council meeting and became effective from 22 September.
Bedham said that enlightened public conferences are being organized to bring the benefits of GST to the common man. “India has been born in India who implemented a revolutionary system like GST. It will strengthen the country’s economy and make trade easier.”
On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh Minister of State for Public Works Department and Gautam Buddha Nagar in -charge Minister Kunwar Brijesh Singh organized a press conference in Greater Noida and informed about the changes in GST. He said that the government has given great relief to the middle class of the country. This is a big gift before Deepawali. A specialty of the Prime Minister is that he pays attention to the general public. GST rates have been severely cut, which will benefit the general public. The minister in -charge said, “The Prime Minister of the country made two slabs and gave a big gift to the common people of India.”
