New Delhi, March 16 (IANS). Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Ajay Alok welcomed the results of Bihar Rajya Sabha elections, calling them a symbol of support for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the democratic process. He said that the election results were as per expectations and the victory of all the NDA candidates was considered predetermined.
While talking to news agency IANS, Ajay Alok said that the results of Bihar Rajya Sabha elections have come exactly as expected. BJP and NDA were already confident that all their five candidates would win. He also said that NDA’s position in Rajya Sabha is strong and the alliance has majority.
Targeting the Congress and the opposition parties, Alok said that the position of the Congress has weakened in many states and the so-called opposition alliance has also been completely exposed. According to him, the political developments in Bihar and other states make it clear how weak the support base of the opposition parties is.
Elections are going to be held in many states in the country on April 9. In this context, Congress leader Nana Patole has raised questions regarding the delay in announcement of election results. Patole says that if the voting is held then the results should be declared within two to three days, whereas this time it is being said that the results will be declared on May 4.
BJP spokesperson Ajay Alok, reacting to Nana Patole’s statement, said that he does not understand why the opposition gives its opinion in such matters. He said that it is the right and responsibility of the Election Commission to decide the dates and schedule of elections and not of the opposition leaders. He sarcastically said that it seems as if commenting on every topic has become a habit of some leaders and it only wastes the country’s time.
He further said that no opposition party has openly welcomed the election process, whereas elections are the biggest festival of democracy. According to him, the opposition parties are nervous about the elections because they already fear defeat. He alleged that in view of the possible defeat, the opposition parties are making unnecessary statements out of panic.
At the same time, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) said that if they get the honour, they will contest the elections together. Ajay Alok commented on this. He said that JMM should think about how respectfully Congress treats it. He claimed that it had already been seen in Bihar that Congress had not given the required respect to JMM and the allies should understand this.
