On Tuesday, Samrat Chaudhary was elected the leader of the BJP legislature party in Bihar, paving the way for him to become the Chief Minister of the state after Nitish Kumar’s resignation.
Nitish Kumar, who has been the Chief Minister for the last 21 years, submitted his resignation this morning, which was accepted by Governor Lieutenant (retd) General Syed Ata Hasnain.
It is noteworthy that Samrat Chaudhary will be the first Chief Minister of BJP in Bihar.
BJP ally Upendra Kushwaha, in a post on Twitter, congratulated Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on his “new responsibility”.
In a long post after submitting his resignation, Nitish Kumar listed the work done during his rule and also expressed his gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The post, written in Hindi on Twitter, said, “You are aware that the NDA government was formed for the first time in the state on November 24, 2005. Since then, the rule of law has been maintained in the state and we are continuously engaged in development work.”
He wrote, “From the beginning, the government has worked for the development of all sections of the society – whether Hindus, Muslims, upper castes, backward classes, extremely backward classes, Dalits or Mahadalits – work has been done for everyone. Be it education, health, roads, electricity or agriculture, work has been done in every sector. A lot of work has also been done for women and youth.”
He said that the NDA government has done a lot for the people of Bihar. He further wrote, “We have continuously served the people of Bihar. The new government will get my full support and guidance. A lot of good work will be done in the future and Bihar will progress a lot. I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart and give my best wishes.”
