Patna, 20 September (IANS). A heartbreaking incident in Murtha village of Jale block of Darbhanga district of Bihar has immersed the entire area into a wave of mourning. On Friday afternoon, three innocent girls went to bathe in the pond, where suddenly got caught in a strong flow of water. Everyone died due to drowning on the spot. CM Nitish Kumar took cognizance of the accident and expressed condolences to the dead. He also announced to give an ex-gratia amount of Rs 4-4 lakh.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took immediate cognizance of the incident. He expressed condolences while sharing the post on his official ‘X’ handle. Nitish Kumar wrote, “Death of 3 girls drowning in a pond in Murtha village of Jale block of Darbhanga district is sad. The Chief Minister has instructed the District Magistrate to provide immediate relief and investigation.
The girls who lost their lives in the accident have been identified as 8 -year -old Riya Kumari, 10 -year -old Priya Kumari and 12 -year -old Sita Kumari. They were all sisters of the same family and studied in a government school in the village. As soon as the incident was reported, there was chaos in the village, and the family and the villagers were stunned on the roads.
According to local people, the girls reached the banks of the pond while playing in the afternoon. She could not recover due to the deep water of the pond. The villagers raced after hearing the sound of shouting, but by then it was late. Police and SDRF team took out the bodies. The police station officer said that after the post -mortem, the bodies were handed over to the relatives. Initial investigation is said to be an accident, but a magistrate inquiry has been ordered due to the possibility of negligence.
