Ahmedabad, January 28 (IANS). BJP leader Rohan Gupta has given a sharp reaction to the insult of MP Shashi Tharoor in the Congress party. Attacking the Congress, he said that the only ‘mistake’ of Shashi Tharoor, who represented the country on the international stage during Operation Sindoor, was that he went abroad and strongly maintained India’s official stance.
Congress has started opposing the country by opposing the government.
BJP leader Rohan Gupta, while talking to news agency IANS, said that mutual hatred within the Congress party is now coming out openly. He alleged that the only ‘mistake’ of Shashi Tharoor, who represented the country on the international stage during Operation Sindoor, was that he went abroad and strongly defended India’s official stance. He said Tharoor spoke about Operation Sindoor before world leaders as a representative of India and not as a representative of any political party, but despite this the Congress leadership did not respect him.
Referring to a recent incident, the BJP leader said that Rahul Gandhi not accepting Shashi Tharoor’s greeting despite being present on the stage is an insult to him. He raised the question whether it is a crime to speak in favor of the country on the global platform.
He said that there is a need to understand the mentality of the Congress party, which calls the country’s economy a ‘dead economy’ and also opposes measures related to national security like Operation Sindoor. According to him, the Congress party has gone so far in opposing the government that at times its stand appears anti-national and in the same sequence it does not fail to insult its own big leader and influential speaker Shashi Tharoor.
Rohan Gupta also claimed that the public knows very well that the leaders who stand with the country, the Congress party makes them its enemies and gradually drives them away from the party. He said that the treatment of Shashi Tharoor is an example of this mentality, which exposes the internal politics and intolerance of Congress.
He also strongly attacked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress. He said that TMC knows very well that it has no concrete answers on questions like poor law and order situation in the state, widespread corruption, violence and appeasement politics. According to Rohan Gupta, TMC is now forced to oppose the SIR to divert attention from these issues.
He said that after the draft list of SIR comes, if a big party like TMC is opposing it, then it should tell how many objections it has officially registered. Rohan Gupta, citing Election Commission data, said that not more than 10 complaints have been filed. He stressed that every issue cannot be subject to political opposition as SIR is a constitutional process. In the end he said that the people of Bengal understand everything and will also respond at the right time.
