Hitting out at the Congress over the Indian Youth Congress’s “shirtless” protest at the Bharat Mandapam during the AI Impact Summit, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju accused the party leaders of justifying such an “obscene” act instead of apologizing to the nation.
Speaking to reporters in the capital, Rijiju said that at a time when the entire global community and tech leaders are in India and praising the country’s leadership in the field of artificial intelligence, Congress workers were indulging in “obscene” behavior at the AI summit venue.
Rijiju said, “Yesterday at the Bharat Mandapam, when people from the global AI and technology community came to India and were praising India, India, under the leadership of the Prime Minister of India, had taken a very positive initiative towards uniting the world and taking it forward under its leadership. There was praise everywhere, and heads of state, heads of government of major countries of the world and many eminent personalities were praising India and talking about working together in unity.”
He said, “At that time, some workers of the Indian Youth Congress came there and indulged in obscene behavior, and everyone has seen the pictures. No matter how much.”
Furthermore, the Union Minister termed the act as a crime against the nation and said that he hoped the Congress party would introspect and apologize for the incident; However, in response, their leaders attempted to justify the issue.
Rijiju said, “This is not a mistake; it is a crime, a very big crime against the nation. The Indian National Congress has committed a serious crime against the country. When we woke up in the morning, we thought that if the Congress party had the slightest concern for the country, they would have introspected and apologised. But when we saw in the morning, instead of apologizing, many Congress leaders were justifying this despicable act.”
He claimed that many Congress leaders have described the protests as the anger of the youth, and said that if it is used to defame the country, then nothing can be more shameless than this.
He said, “They were saying that this is the anger of the youth. If the anger of the youth is used to defame the country, then nothing can be more shameful than this. When something is done in the national interest, no matter which government is in power, politics has nothing to do with it. And when someone represents the country, politics has no place in it.”
