Bengaluru, July 19 (IANS). Karnataka Congress president BK Hariprasad on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led central government over alleged exam paper leak cases across the country. He accused the government of endangering the future of millions of students and demanded an independent national inquiry under the supervision of a retired Supreme Court judge.
Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru, Hariprasad referred to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent ‘Students’ Echo’ program organized in Kota, Rajasthan. Kota is considered one of the major educational centers of India. The program focused on student suicides and measures to boost student morale.
Citing Rahul Gandhi’s statement, Hariprasad claimed that 152 exam results have been leaked across India between 2014 and 2026. He alleged that most of these incidents took place in BJP-ruled states and raised questions on those who were benefiting from these leaks.
He said that question paper leaking is not just a matter of examinations. This has become a matter of concern for the credibility of the entire education system of India. Students and their families put in years of hard work, sacrifice, and financial resources. When exam question papers are leaked, it shatters their aspirations.
Hariprasad alleged that police in states like Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat have recovered leaked question papers from persons linked to the families of BJP leaders. However, he did not present any specific evidence during the press conference.
He said India’s literacy rate and higher education infrastructure have expanded significantly since independence, and added that institutions like IITs, IIMs, IISc and AIIMS symbolize the country’s investment in education.
He said that education is a fundamental right granted by the Constitution. Repeated question paper leaks are a direct attack on the future of India’s children and the credibility of our educational institutions.
Drawing comparisons with Karnataka’s PSI recruitment exam scam, Hariprasad reminded that cases were registered against him for protesting irregularities and pointed out that the courts had recently quashed those cases.
