Rashtriya Janata Dal leader and Leader of Opposition in Bihar Tejashwi Yadav said on Sunday morning that the people of the state have become aware of the “strategy of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)” and are “impatient” for a change in the government.
Taking aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tejashwi argued that despite big industries being established in Gujarat, Bihar is being cheated. He also mentioned the support the Grand Alliance received from the people ahead of the already announced assembly elections.
Yadav, who has been made the chief ministerial candidate by the opposition grand alliance, said, “The campaign has started and Bihar is desperate for change. Wherever we are going, people of all castes and religions are coming to support us in large numbers. People are fed up with the present government and want to change the Bihar government.”
He said, “Under this 20-year-old visionless government, corruption and crime have reached its peak. No action is being taken. Amit Shah has already made it clear that no industry can be set up due to shortage of land. People have understood the tricks of the BJP that Modi has set up factories in Gujarat. Bihar is being shown a thumb and a nod.”
Tejashwi further announced that the honorarium and allowances of Panchayat and Gram Kachari representatives will be doubled if the Grand Alliance government is formed in Bihar.
The RJD leader said, “When our government comes to power, the honorarium and allowances of three-tier Panchayat representatives and Gram Kachari representatives will be doubled. Pension scheme will be started for former Panchayat and Gram Kachari representatives. Three-tier Panchayat and Gram Kachari representatives will be given insurance coverage of up to Rs 50 lakh.”
He also announced that a lump sum amount of Rs 5 lakh will be provided interest free for five years to provide financial assistance to people from marginalized communities engaged in caste-based businesses.
“A lump sum amount of Rs 5 lakh, interest free for five years, will be provided for financial assistance to the hardworking people of barber, potter, carpenter and blacksmith communities. This will enable them to purchase modern equipment to maintain their (self) employment,” Tejashwi said.
Highlighting the anti-incumbency wave in Bihar, Tejashwi expressed confidence that people will bring change in the government.
He said, “If you see a single brand of seed, it does not give a crop and makes the land barren. The people of Bihar will bring change (in the government). We are asking only 20 months from the people of Bihar. I have full faith in the people of Bihar and the people of my region that change will come.”
He said, “The grand alliance will form the government and we all will work together to create a new Bihar.”
The grand alliance earlier announced Tejashwi Yadav as the CM face for the Bihar assembly elections, while naming Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP)’s Mukesh Sahni as the deputy CM candidate.
There is going to be a direct contest between the NDA and the Grand Alliance in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. The NDA includes Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram) Vilas, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha.
The grand alliance led by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) includes Congress, Dipankar Bhattacharya-led Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation, Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Mukesh Sahni’s VIP.
Additionally, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party has announced that it will contest all 243 assembly seats in the state. Bihar Assembly elections will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11 and counting of votes will take place on November 14.
