Preparations for the assembly elections in Bihar are in full swing. All the parties are preparing to penetrate the eye of their fish by imposing punishment so that the throne of power is occupied for the next five years. Meanwhile, BJP is now planning to repeat Gujarat’s strategy in the assembly elections. The model adopted by BJP in Gujarat can take many big steps to deal with the anti -incumbency wave in Bihar. The way the party dealt with the anti -incumbency wave in Gujarat elections 2022, the same strategy is also set to implement in Bihar. Under this strategy, the BJP will try to convert the displeasure in opposition to power in its favor.
Gujarat model and its success
The BJP has been in power in Gujarat since 1995 and before the 2022 elections, the discussion of anti -incumbency against the party was in full swing. During the Korona epidemic, there was resentment in the public about the arrangements of the government, while the Morbi bridge accident worsened the situation. The BJP took a big step a year before the election to deal with this challenge. The party removed the then Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and made Bhupendra Patel the Chief Minister. Along with this, the entire cabinet was replaced, so that the message can be given to the public that the party has changed its government. After this, 45 of the 99 MLAs won in 2017 were cut. With these decisions, the BJP gave the message that if the public has any resentment from the 2017 government, then that government has now been completely changed. This strategy benefited, and the BJP won a historic victory by winning 156 seats in the 182 -seat assembly in the 2022 assembly elections.
Strategy to implement Gujarat model in Bihar
In view of the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar, the BJP is now thinking of adopting the strategy of Gujarat itself. The party plans that it will field big leaders in elections and is also preparing to change the candidates on a large scale. There are many challenges for the BJP in Bihar, which this strategy is being adopted to counter.
BJP’s challenges faced in Bihar
There are many such challenges in front of the BJP in Bihar, due to which the party feels the need to adopt the strategy of Gujarat’s model. The biggest challenge is public resentment against anti -incumbency and ruling MLAs. There is a protest against the ruling MLAs of BJP in various areas. For example, on September 22, BJP MLA Vijay Khemka was opposed in Purnia Sadar, while on August 25, protesters in Patna threw stones at Health Minister Mangal Pandey’s convoy. Apart from this, JDU minister Shravan Kumar and MLA Krishna Murari have also faced opposition.
Along with this, the party has increased the difficulties of the party due to serious allegations leveled against the BJP leaders by the public leader Prashant Kishore. He has even described Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary as the accused in the murder case. In this situation, BJP is feeling the need to adopt a new strategy.
BJP also has difficulties about Nitish Kumar’s health and power situation. Some people believe that Nitish Kumar is not mentally healthy and the government is being run entirely by bureaucrats and other leaders.
BJP candidate selection and change plan in Bihar
The BJP’s Central Core Group has planned extensive changes for the selection of candidates in Bihar. However, many reports have said that the political scenario of Bihar is not like Gujarat, so this change cannot happen on the scale of Gujarat.
The BJP has decided that it needs to field new and clean faces in the election. In the 2020 assembly elections, there are plans to change the selection of candidates for the 36 seats on which BJP lost.
The BJP has also received a big lesson from Karnataka. In Karnataka, many candidates were protested due to lack of tickets and the party also suffered losses. The compulsions of the Magathbandhan are also a big challenge for the BJP. In Bihar, the election alliance is to be fought with three-four parties and it is important to take care of the caste equation.
BJP’s heavy weight is contesting in Bihar. The party high command has planned to field several ministers and leaders as a candidate in the assembly elections. Under this, leaders like Emperor Chaudhary, Janak Ram, Hari Sahni and Mangal Pandey are being prepared to contest the election of MLA.
Election preparations and organizational work
The BJP had conducted two surveys about all the seats in Bihar in August and September, whose report has been presented before the Central Committee. After this, discussions about ticket distribution have started in the party.
In view of the preparations for the election, the party has appointed Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in charge of Bihar. Along with this, BJP President JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah also visited Bihar and held meetings with organization leaders at the regional level.
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is also preparing land in Bihar. Its activists are going door-to-door meeting voters on the lines of Delhi. In this way, the BJP is preparing to adopt the Gujarat model in Bihar, but a big issue here is that the party in Gujarat can change the Chief Minister, while it is not possible in Bihar as Nitish Kumar is more likely to be made the Chief Minister after the election results.
