Local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activists in Thane allegedly publicly wore a sari to a Congress officer in Thane for sharing a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A local BJP official on Tuesday defended the act, saying that this was done by Congress officer Mama alias Prakash Pagare in response to an attempt to “infamy” the Prime Minister. A video of this incident has also surfaced.
Pagare (72) said that he would take legal action against the BJP officials involved in the act on Tuesday.
The local Congress officer shared a tampering picture of the Prime Minister on social media.
BJP’s welfare unit president Nandu Parab and other party workers stopped the turban on Manpada Road in Dombivali area on Tuesday morning. She forcibly wore her in the middle of the road.
Defending this act, Parb said that this was the answer to the attempt of the Prime Minister to “notorious”. Parab said that we wore Mama Pagare on the road.
Later, Pagare alleged that BJP workers abused caste and slapped them during the clash.
The Congress official said that he would file a complaint against them demanding action against them under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. He said that “the mentality to target by gathering crowds” and encroachment on their personal freedom will not be tolerated.
Sachin Pote, the president of the Congress’s welfare unit, condemned the incident, claiming that this action of BJP workers is “insulting the entire women’s class” and a rude attack on a senior leader.
Pote also demanded strict action against the people involved in this act.
