BJP's unilateral victory in Daman-Diu and Dadra-Nagar Haveli, PM Modi praised the workers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated BJP workers for their landslide victory in the local elections in the Union territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, saying people have a “strong connect” with the party’s development agenda.

Sharing a post, PM Modi expressed his gratitude towards the elections and wrote, “Gratitude to my sisters and brothers of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu who gave unprecedented support to BJP in the Sarpanch, Zilla Panchayat and Councilor elections across the Union Territory.”

“This reflects the Union Territory’s strong alignment with our party’s development agenda. I appreciate the efforts of our hardworking workers at the grassroots level,” the X post further said.

In Diu, the BJP won a landslide victory in the elections, winning both Panchayat seats in the Sarpanch elections and all eight wards in the District Panchayat elections.

Congress wrote on Twitter, “There has been blatant ‘electoral theft’ in the Municipal Corporation and Panchayat elections of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. The Election Commission and the BJP have conspired to cancel the nominations of Congress and opposition candidates.”

The party said, “12 Congress candidates had filed nominations in the Silvassa Municipal Corporation elections, out of which the nominations of 8 were cancelled. Similarly, 21 nominations were filed in the District Panchayat elections, out of which the nominations of 13 were cancelled. The special thing is that all these nominations were filled in a way while sitting with the legal team. Even after this, the nominations were deliberately cancelled.”

Calling it an attack on democracy, the party further said that many opposition candidates were not even called for investigation.

He further wrote, “When a complaint was made about this to the Election Commission official, no attention was paid. This is clearly electoral theft. Till now the Election Commission and BJP have been together in ‘vote theft’, but after the game of theft has been exposed, they have come straight to ‘electoral theft’. This is an attack on democracy and the Constitution.”
