Budget session of Parliament will start from January 28, will be organized in two phases

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Friday that the budget session of Parliament will run from January 28 to April 2.

The budget session begins with President Draupadi Murmu’s address to the joint session of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha in the Lok Sabha chamber.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Economic Survey and present the General Budget.

However, Rijiju did not give any information about the date of presenting the budget. February 1, which is scheduled as Budget Day, falls on a Sunday this year.

It is noteworthy that Parliament will be on holiday from 13 February to 9 March.

“On the recommendation of the Government of India, Hon’ble President of India Smt. Draupadi Murmu Ji has approved the convening of both the Houses of Parliament for the Budget Session for the year 2026. The session will commence on 28 January 2026 and will continue till 2 April 2026,” Rijiju said in a post on Twitter.

Rijiju said, “The first phase will end on February 13, 2026 and Parliament will reconvene on March 9, 2026, which is an important step towards meaningful debate and people-centric governance.”
