Jaipur, May 12 (IANS). The investigation into the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2026 paper leak case has now been officially handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

A CBI team reached the Special Operations Group headquarters in Jaipur late Tuesday evening. After this, Rajasthan SOG handed over all the documents, electronic evidence and information about the accused arrested so far related to the case to CBI.

CBI has registered an FIR in this case and now the investigation is completely in its hands.

The agency has registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating, criminal breach of trust, theft and destruction of evidence. Along with this, sections of Prevention of Corruption Act and Public Examination (Unfair Means Prevention) Act 2024 have also been added.

According to the complaint by the Higher Education Department of the Education Ministry, the NEET exam was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 3. After the examination, NTA received several complaints and intelligence that some confidential documents were illegally circulated even before the examination.

In the last few days, SOG conducted continuous raids in Jaipur, Jamvaramgarh, Sikar and other districts and arrested around 15 people.

According to sources, the accused may be taken to Delhi for investigation of the entire network, where they will be interrogated about the entire network of preparation of ‘guess paper’, its distribution and reaching out to students.

Investigation has revealed that many students of Sikar and Jhunjhunu had received the ‘guess paper’ two days before the examination. It is being claimed that out of these, more than 120 questions appeared in the real exam.

The SOG investigation started on May 8, when complaints were received from Sikar and Jhunjhunu.

According to officials, the paper leak network had spread the question paper by creating Telegram and WhatsApp groups. The investigation also revealed that the ‘Guess Paper’ was distributed for the first time among the students of Sikar on May 1.

It has also come to light that out of total 720 marks, questions worth about 600 marks were included in that guess paper and 120–140 questions were asked in the direct examination.

Investigation also revealed that this ‘guess paper’ was sent by an MBBS student from Churu district studying in Kerala to a friend from Sikar. From there it reached the students through the PG accommodation operator.

The investigating agencies said that the same PG operator first received this question bank himself and later sent it to the students and coaching counselors.

Police believe that due to fear of arrest, he later filed the complaint himself. Many students have also sent complaint about paper leak to NTA through email.

Many coaching centers are also on the radar in the investigation and their role is being investigated.
