Chandrashekhar Azad was going to Meerut, where he was to meet a Dalit family whose woman was recently murdered. It is alleged that the woman was murdered when she tried to save her daughter who was allegedly kidnapped. Ever since this incident came to light, opposition parties are raising questions on the way the government is handling law and order.
According to eyewitnesses, as soon as Chandrashekhar Azad’s convoy reached Ghazipur border, the police stopped them from moving forward. Police said that due to the law and order situation they cannot be allowed to proceed further at this time. However, the situation became tense as a crowd of supporters gathered, and Chandrashekhar Azad himself moved forward and tried to cross the barricades.
Dalit woman murder case
During this, he had a heated argument with the police officers. Chandrashekhar Azad was heard saying, “I am an elected MP, and you people are misbehaving with me, pushing me.” A large number of police forces were deployed at the spot, and there was a minor clash between the police and the supporters. However, the police controlled the situation and prevented a major clash. Chandrashekhar Azad said that he would visit the victim’s family at any cost and fight to get them justice. The administration said that maintaining peace and order is a priority during any political visit. According to officials, this step was taken as a precautionary measure in view of the possibility of tension in the area.
What happened in Meerut?
A shocking incident took place in Kapsad village of Sardhana police station area of Meerut at around 8 am on Thursday morning. A woman was going towards the fields with her daughter, when allegedly a man named Paras from the same village along with his associates kidnapped the girl at gunpoint. When the mother protested, the accused attacked her with a sharp weapon, seriously injuring her. The woman later died of her injuries during treatment, while the accused fled from the spot along with the kidnapped woman. The news of this incident spread rapidly, causing anger and resentment among the villagers. Chandrashekhar was going to meet this unhappy family.
