Bhubaneswar, June 11 (IANS). Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presented before the country the state’s development journey and important initiatives related to human resource development in the 11th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog held in New Delhi on Thursday.
In this meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister explained in detail the work being done by Odisha in the fields of education, skill development, health, sports, technology-based good governance and inclusive development.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said that Odisha is playing a leading role in realizing Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Purvodaya’ vision. He said that the economic growth rate of Odisha in the year 2025-26 stood at 7.9 percent, while the fiscal deficit and debt levels were maintained within the FRBM norms. Not only this, Odisha has got the first position in the country in NITI Aayog’s Fiscal Health Index 2026.
The theme of the meeting was ‘Inclusive Human Development for a Developed India’. Speaking on this, the Chief Minister said that a developed India cannot be made just by building roads, bridges and buildings, but for this, educated children, healthy families, skilled youth and equal opportunities are necessary. He said that the vision of ‘Developed Odisha’ has three major pillars (inclusivity, prosperity and health-education based welfare).
The Chief Minister said that the state is paying special attention to the early development of children. 85 percent of a child’s brain develops in the first two years of life. Keeping this in mind, schemes like Happy Parenting, Aame Padhiba Aama Bhashare, Mo Vikas Patra, Aarohan, Saksham Anganwadi and Vidya-Sarthi are being run. Also, the education and development of children will be monitored using AI under the National AI Mission.
In the education sector, schemes like Aama Kuni Pila, Shishu Vatika, Pravesh Utsav, Khadi Chhuan, Godabarish Mishra Adarsh Primary School, Chief Minister Nutrition Scheme, Shaheed Madho Singh Hath Kharcha Scheme, Mother Tongue Based Multilingual Education and Chief Minister Kanya Sumangala Scheme were also mentioned.
The Chief Minister said that Odisha is strengthening its skill development system. Under this, modernization of ITI, Center of Excellence, AI Lab, PM Setu Cluster and World Skill Center are being expanded. At the same time, internship and apprenticeship based degree programs have been started for 1.5 lakh students in higher education.
He also mentioned the achievements of the state in sports, agriculture and health sectors. Health services are being expanded through stadium construction at the block level, Agristack based digital crop survey and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. The Chief Minister said that through digital platforms like ‘Aama Sathi’ and AI technology, governance and public services are being made more transparent, faster and effective.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said that the Odisha government will strengthen the partnership between industry and educational institutions.
