Bhopal, June 28 (IANS). Taking an important step towards strengthening the renewable energy sector of Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will inaugurate two big solar parks with a total capacity of 950 MW on Monday. The 500 MW Neemuch Solar Park and 450 MW Shajapur Solar Park are important milestones in the clean energy journey of the state.
Union New and Renewable Energy Minister Prahlad Joshi and State New and Renewable Energy Minister Rakesh Shukla will also participate in the inauguration program. During this, Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) will be signed for the state’s first 440 MW capacity Morena Solar Plus Storage Project. This is said to be the most economical solar plus storage project in the country.
An excellent tariff of Rs 2.70 per unit has been fixed for this project, which is the lowest in India for solar energy with storage. Apart from this, foundation stone laying ceremony and inauguration of various industrial units and development works costing Rs 1,553.98 crore will also be done.
Manu Srivastava, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of New and Renewable Energy, highlighted the competitive rates achieved. He said that very low rates have been fixed for the units of Neemuch Solar Park at Rs 2.14 to 2.15 per unit, while the rates for the units of Shajapur Solar Park are between Rs 2.33 to 2.35 per unit.
These rates are among the lowest in the country, making these projects very beneficial and practical for consumers.
Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Energy Development Corporation, Amit Tomar said that the Chief Minister and the Union Minister will together lay the foundation stone and inaugurate many projects, which will promote industrial growth and energy self-reliance in the state.
Competitive rates of Rs 2.44 to 2.45 per unit have also been achieved for the currently being constructed Agar Solar Park (550 MW), which has further strengthened the solar portfolio of the state. It is expected that these initiatives will generate huge employment opportunities, bring investment and will go a long way in meeting the renewable energy targets of Madhya Pradesh.
