Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the change of name of another city. While participating in the Smriti Prakatyotsav Mela-2025 in Mustafabad village on Monday, citing the historical and cultural importance associated with Sant Kabir Das, he announced the proposal to change the name of the village to Kabirdham.
Speaking at the event, he said that local people told him that there was no Muslim population in Mustafabad, due to which he questioned the current name of the village.
The Chief Minister said, “When I asked for the name of this village, it was revealed that it is Mustafabad. When I inquired about the Muslim population here, I was told that no one lives here. So, I thought that since no Muslims live here, it should be named Kabirdham. We will bring a proposal to restore its real identity.”
Taking aim at the Congress, Adityanath accused the previous governments of distorting the cultural identity.
“They turned Ayodhya into Faizabad, Prayagraj into Allahabad and Kabirdham into Mustafabad. When we came to power, we restored the real identity of these places,” he said.
He mentioned his government’s earlier efforts to rename Allahabad as Prayagraj and Faizabad as Ayodhya.
The event, held in Lakhimpur Kheri district, celebrated the legacy of Saint Kabir, and the proposed name change is aimed at honoring the 15th century poet-saint’s contribution to Indian culture and spirituality.
Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath organized ‘Janata Darshan’ at his residence in Lucknow to address the grievances and concerns of the public.
