The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Wednesday said it has sought permission from the Delhi Police to hold a protest at Jantar Mantar on June 20 and is confident that it will get the permission. The party said in a statement that it has completed all necessary police formalities and submitted information related to the proposed protest, such as the number of volunteers and logistical arrangements. Earlier, CJP founder Abhijeet Deepak had announced that they would stage an indefinite strike at Jantar Mantar from June 20 until Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns.
What did the police say on the request for protest?
CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said in a statement, “We have formally informed Delhi Police about the peaceful protest and sit-in at Jantar Mantar on June 20, 2026. Delhi Police has said that they will respond to us tomorrow morning. We are confident that the police will give permission.” In a video statement after the meeting with police officials, Das said he spent the entire day at the Sansad Marg police station completing necessary procedures for the proposed protest.
“I have completed all the formalities, including a complete plan as per the police requirements and the number of volunteers required,” he said. “We hope that Delhi Police will cooperate with us. CJP has assured full cooperation to the police and said that the protest will be peaceful.”
He further said, “Like all our other protests across the country, this too will be peaceful. People from across the country will join us at Jantar Mantar for one demand: Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.” Das further said, “We have given our full cooperation, so Delhi Police has no reason to deny us the right to assemble peacefully at Jantar Mantar.”
The organization also gave a call to its supporters to ‘Chalo Delhi’ ahead of the proposed protest. Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) is a youth-led organization that started with an online campaign. It is raising issues related to unemployment, examination irregularities and delays in recruitment.
The CJP has garnered public support through social media campaigns and has since organized protests and outreach programs in various parts of the country. The group is campaigning against alleged shortcomings in the education and examination system and demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
